Below is a little biography of me. I give ALL GLORY to GOD for all I have accomplished and will still accomplish in my life. I believe I have not even seen up to 10% of what He has for me in His perfect plan for my life. I am also blessed with a wonderful family (my parents, brother and sisters). This page is dedicated to all my friends and family, especially those that live out of the US and have probably not seen me for so many years.
I was born in small town in Cameroon called
Buea in the 70s (you guess my age...). Buea has one of the top ten
highest mountains in the world called Mount Fako. This is also the highest
mountain in West Africa (Click here for images of Mount
Fako). My family left Buea for Yaounde when I was two and so I grew up
in Yaounde, which is the capital city of Cameroon . Click here for photos of Yaounde
and other parts of Cameroon. It is a MUST SEE place to visit!!!! My parents
(Regina and George Mbarika) live in Yaounde. Below are their pictures....
My Lovely Mom
My Dad and Hero
I never went to kindergarten because there was none in my city at that time that I could go to. However I did my elementary education at the Government Bilingual Primary School in Yaounde. Below are my 2nd and 3rd grade pictures....
2nd Grade. I am standing on the second row, third student
from left to right. I am the one with the big head popping out in between
the two little girls.
3rd Grade. I am standing on the first row, second student
from right to left. I am the one with my left hand on my waist and next to
me (with his arm around my neck-- yes where I come from, that is allowed)
is one of my best friends EK Agborsangaya. He now lives in Atlanta and is
an Information Systems and Finance guru.
After elementary school, I went to secondary (Government bilingual Secondary School) and high (Government bilingual High School) school in Yaounde. I later went to Nairobi, Kenya at the United States International University where I did my Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), and then I came to the USA in January 1996. I attended the University of illinois at Chicago for my master degree in MIS and then my Ph.D. from Auburn University (WWWWAAAAAAARRRRR EAGLE ! ! ! ! !).
I taught at Columbus
State University in Columbus, Georgia from August 1999 through May 2001.
Below is a picture of my 'nasty' office while still in Columbus...
CSU office...No I can't keep a well organized office...:(
I now live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Baton Rouge is a mid-sized town in the South East corner of the USA. Click here for the official web site for the city of Baton Rouge. I must say that besides Cameroon, Baton Rouge has the best foods/restaurants in the world!!!! The people seem really friendly, hospitable, and down to earth (you know that 'Southern Hospitality'...). The weather is very similar to that of Yaounde, in Cameroon. I invite you to visit this part of the USA someday.
